Overview
Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a travel assignment. The therapist will provide specialized respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic conditions, ensuring safe and effective treatment in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Responsibilities
• Deliver respiratory therapy services to patients in accordance with physician orders and established protocols
• Perform patient assessments, monitor progress, and document care accurately
• Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and other respiratory modalities
• Manage and operate ventilators and other respiratory equipment
• Respond to emergency situations and provide airway management support
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care plans and equipment use
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
• Current Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina (or eligible for licensure)
• Minimum of 2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience in an acute care setting
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Experience with electronic medical records systems;
Meditech experience preferred
• Required
Education:
Associates degree in Respiratory Therapy or higher
Assignment Details
• Contract length: 13 weeks, with potential for extension
• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Nights)
