Job Summary

Our Exercise Science program is seeking a Full‑time continuous (probationary) instructor starting in Fall 2026. The Program is a Career Technical Education program that offers an AAS degree and a variety of career‑pathway certificates. PCC is committed to training and educating Exercise Science professionals to the highest standards, keeping pace with technological advances and evolving industry demands.

This Full‑time Faculty Position requires experience in the Exercise Science industry and higher education, with the ability to teach a broad range of Exercise Science courses and develop future coursework in alignment with industry. Based out of PCC’s Sylvania Campus, this instructor performs all duties of Full‑time Faculty at PCC and, in particular:

  • Provides academic leadership in the implementation of a robust Exercise Science program.
  • Supports and mentors part‑time ExS faculty & staff.
  • Supports the development of an innovative, culturally‑responsive Exercise Science curriculum.
  • NOTE:

    Prior work with diverse audiences and teaching at the community college, college and/or adult education level preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver instruction and assessment in a variety of medium‑sized, full‑time course settings, including first‑year and intermediate courses in Exercise Science.
  • Design, teach, and assess classroom, laboratory, and experiential courses that comply with institutional, state, and professional standards.
  • Provide mentorship and support to students, advising on career options and professional development.
  • Implement culturally responsive teaching strategies and inclusive pedagogy in all instructional activities.
  • Participate in program assessment, curriculum review, and accreditation processes.
  • Engage in community outreach and professional activities related to Exercise Science.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Sports Psychology, Sports Fitness, Sports Science, Outdoor Recreation Leadership, Human Performance, Kinesiology, or Human Physiology plus three years of industry experience.
  • OR Master’s degree in any field plus a Bachelor’s degree in one of the above disciplines plus three years of industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in one of the listed disciplines.
  • Three years of recent experience teaching adults in Physical Education or fitness‑related classes.
  • Ability to teach at least one of the Professional Activities classes (Group Fitness, Weight Training, Mind‑Body, Team Sports, Special Populations, Older Adult Fitness, or Aquatics).
  • Current certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid.
  • Experience teaching theoretical lecture classes in exercise physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, fitness promotion, fitness assessment, exercise prescription, sports nutrition, fitness for special populations, or basic anatomy and physiology for fitness instructors.
