Job Title: Director of Accounting

Salary: $170,000 - $190,000/annually plus bonus

Location: Long Island, New York (Nassau County) - On-Site (4-5 days a week)

About the Firm:

Our client is a prestigious law firm with multiple offices and a reputation for excellence. They are seeking a Director of Accounting to lead and oversee all accounting operations across the organization. Must have strong communication, team leadership, and hands‑on accounting skills.

Responsibilities
  • Own and manage all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, billing, and month‑end close.
  • Oversee financial reporting and ensure compliance with GAAP and firm policies.
  • Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing environment.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls, process improvements, and best practices.
  • Partner with leadership to provide financial insights and support strategic decision‑making.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors during audits and filings.
  • Ensure accurate consolidation of financials for multiple offices and/or subsidiaries.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in mid‑to‑large organizations.
  • Experience managing accounting operations for companies with multiple offices or subsidiaries.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
