Description
The Science Academies of New York (SANY) seeks a creative and technically skilled Videographer/Photographer to join our dynamic Marketing and Public Relations Department. This individual will be instrumental in capturing, editing, and producing high-quality video and photo content to support school branding, recruitment, community engagement, and internal communications. This role will also integrate AI-assisted tools and technologies to enhance productivity and creative output.
Responsibilities:
- Capture compelling photo and video content of school events, classrooms, student and staff features, and community outreach efforts.
- Edit and produce high-quality videos for web, social media, live streams, presentations, and internal use.
- Utilize AI-powered tools (e.g., Adobe Sensei, Runway
ML, Descript, Canva AI) for:- Video enhancement, color correction, and audio cleanup
- Script generation, captioning, and text overlays
- Image upscaling, background removal, object isolation, and other enhancements as needed

- Create and maintain an organized media library and digital asset management system.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to plan and storyboard visual projects.
- Provide live video coverage for major school events and ceremonies (e.g., Facebook/Instagram Live).
- Edit and prepare media optimized for web and social media publishing.
- Ensure all content aligns with SANY's branding and visual identity standards.
- Assist in producing short-form, vertical content for platforms like Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, and You Tube Shorts.
- Stay current with visual content trends and emerging AI technologies in media production.
- Develop and maintain a video content calendar aligned with academic and recruitment cycles.
- Create highlight reels and promotional videos showcasing school programs, athletics, and alumni achievements.
- Train staff on basic photography and videography techniques as needed.
- Collaborate within the marketing department to ensure media is optimized per platform requirements.
- Archive raw and final media assets following internal documentation standards.
- Scout locations and plan lighting setups for photo and video shoots.
Qualifications:
This role requires a self-starter who pays attention to detail, is goal-oriented, and can handle social situations with ease. Before work can begin, the position will require fingerprint clearance through the New York State Department of Education.
Required Skills:
- BA/BS in Photography, Film, Media, Communications, or a related field.
- 2+ years of professional photography and videography experience.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom).
- Familiarity with AI tools for media production (e.g., Descript, Runway, Fliki, Heygen).
- Strong understanding of composition, lighting, color theory, and visual storytelling.
- Hands-on experience with DSLR/mirrorless cameras, audio equipment, lighting kits, and gimbals.
- Skilled in editing videos for social media, especially short, vertical formats.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various school sites.
- Fingerprint clearance through the New York State Department of Education is required.

- Motion graphics and animation experience.
- Drone videography & photography expertise, TRUST Certification, and FAA certification.
- Experience setting up and managing live streams.
- Strong graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, Figma).
