POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing comprehensive oral hygiene care to dental patients including the cleaning of teeth and gums as well as other applicable accepted procedures; communicates to patients, information relevant to the care of teeth and oral cavity; including appropriate dietary information; may assist dentist during specific procedures on patients; may take and develop x-rays, may also participate in dental training.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Graduation from a two-year Dental Hygiene program. Current New York State license is required. Must also have current BLS and infection control certifications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Ambulatory – 95%
Sedentary – 5%
Subject to stress and fatigue.
Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination when working with patients and equipment.
Subject to repeated bending, squatting and stooping.
Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
