PEDIATRIC HEMATOLOGY/ONCOLOGY
Academic Faculty Position

The Department of Pediatrics at SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse and the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital at University Hospital are recruiting a faculty member in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor.

This is a full time academic position caring for the entire spectrum of pediatric hematology/oncology disorders, but interests in general oncology, vascular anomalies, stem cell therapies and patient-oriented research are highly desired. This is a great opportunity for an early/mid career physician who is interested in potential leadership opportunities as well as to tailor the position to their area of interest and to advance a strong clinical and academic career.

We are a well-supported clinical practice with a diverse patient population. We are seeking 1-2 physicians with outstanding clinical and leadership skills, who can work well as a member of a team and will contribute to medical education and scholarship.

The candidate will join an active pediatric hematology/oncology program consisting of 7 pediatric hematologists/oncologists, 2 nurse practitioners and psychologist as well as support staff in nursing, social work, child life, pharmacy, education and clinical research associates. We have comprehensive programs in neuro-oncology, survivorship, bleeding disorders, sickle cell disease, chronic transfusion/hematology, palliative care, cancer genetics, and vascular anomalies. We are highly active in the Children’s Oncology Group as well as other consortiums.

We have a close working relationship with our pediatric bioethics program.

Facilities include state of the art outpatient facilities in the Waters Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders located in the Upstate Cancer Center as well as a dedicated inpatient unit in the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. Golisano Children’s Hospital is a 75 bed facility that provides comprehensive tertiary care to a 17 county area of central and upstate New York.

Candidates must be board certified/board eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and eligible for a New York State medical license. Academic rank and leadership opportunities in the division are dependent on commensurate qualifications and prior experiences.

We invite interested candidates to send a cover letter and CV to:
Melanie Comito, MD, Director, Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Department of Pediatrics, Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, 750

E. Adams Street, Syracuse, NY 13210,  or Fax  or Email to ComitoM
