Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY, is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 30 locally sponsored community colleges throughout New York State. Job Description:
The Nursing Department invites applications to teach in OCC's CNA workforce program.
Major responsibilities include:
- Teaching clinical instruction and evaluation.
- Lab instruction and evaluation.
- Student mentoring and ensuring strengthening of knowledge, skills and competencies.
The successful candidate will:
- Use appropriate technology to deliver and enhance learning.
- Be innovative in the presentation of hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes.
- Assess learning outcomes and provide timely feedback.
- Be responsive to student questions and available for student support.
- Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
- Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Workforce position (CNA):
- Current NYS RN registration and CPR certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered.
Additional Information:
Rate of pay is $45.00/hour. This position is not eligible for benefits. This position will begin in March, 2025.

- Certification to teach Nurse Aide or Practical Nursing.
- One year of experience teaching nurse aides in a residential health care facility.
- One year of experience teaching nursing or nursing-related programs to adults in an academic setting approved by the Commissioner of Education.
- Completion of the State approved professionally recognized course in teaching adult learners.
- Documentation that verifies one year of experience caring for the elderly and/or chronically ill.
