Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY, is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 30 locally sponsored community colleges throughout New York State. Onondaga County is our sponsor. We offer two-year degree programs that serve as transfer opportunities to baccalaureate degree programs at four‑year campuses or for direct entry to the workforce. We are accepting applications for an adjunct instructor in our Culinary Management program, teaching FSA‑235 & FSA‑235L.
Event/Catering Management provides students an opportunity to explore the functions of planning, developing, budgeting, marketing, and evaluating meetings and special events. This course will provide the fundamentals for executing the management of special events and catering. The course will have a lab component throughout the semester (dates TBD).
Prerequisites:
- FSA 100, FSA 103B, and FSA 103C.
- Co‑requisite: FSA 235L – must be taken at the same time as this course.
Adjunct instructors are responsible for all aspects of preparation, instruction, and classroom management. These include, but are not limited to, learning management system (LMS) integration and maintenance, instruction and content delivery, preparing and grading assignments and exams, timely responses to student inquiries, and assessing student performance relative to standardized learning objectives. This course is taught on campus face‑to‑face.
Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:
- AAS in Hospitality Management, AAS in Culinary Management, or AOS in Culinary Arts from a regionally accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS in Hospitality Management, BS in Culinary Management, or BS in Catering.
- Experience with D2L Brightspace or comparable LMS.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages considered.
- Adjunct rate of pay for the 25/26 academic year is $1,483 per credit hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment.
- Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the New York State Teacher's Retirement System.
