The Syracuse City School District is undergoing a new phase of innovation and transformation with the goal of ensuring that all students graduate high school with the skills needed to be ready for college and career. The School Board and Syracuse community have charged the Superintendent with improving student achievement, and he is seeking a dedicated and diverse team of school leaders and teachers to partner with him in moving the district toward its goals.

The Syracuse City School District represents 34 schools and 4 alternative education programs, serving 19,000+ students Pre-K-12 of whom 77% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, 18% are served by the Office of Special Education and 78% are students of color.

• Report to the school office at beginning of school day to pick up required materials/schedule of classes and at the end of the school day to return materials
• Support instruction as prescribed in the classroom teacher's lessons
• Work with individual students and/or groups of students on instructional projects
• Assist students in the use of available resources and assist in the development of instructional materials
• Utilize own skills and abilities to assist with programming in languages, arts, crafts, music, and similar subjects
• Assist students with specific health related activities as appropriate
• Assist the teacher in maintaining a classroom environment that is conducive to learning
• Follow all school and classroom procedures
• When working in a Special Education classroom, perform the following tasks as needed:
  Toileting needs;
  Feeding needs;
  Lifting students;
  Pushing students in assistive devices (e.g. wheelchairs)
• Perform other related duties as directed by Principal or Vice Principal

• High school diploma or GED
• Interest in serving Syracuse City schools and students
• Ability to accept daily assignments in various SCSD schools and programs
• The successful candidate will be required to pass a fingerprint-based background check, at the cost of $101.75 to the candidate.

• Compensation of $15.50 per hour
• Qualification for SCSD benefits after 3 months, if you work every day in the same position.
