Today, Le Moyne has evolved into a nationally acclaimed college of liberal arts and sciences that draws students from across the U.S. and abroad.

Our Mission:

Le Moyne College is a diverse learning community that strives for academic excellence in the Catholic and Jesuit tradition through its comprehensive programs rooted in the liberal arts and sciences. Its emphasis is on education of the whole person and on the search for meaning and value as integral parts of the intellectual life. The Ruth Colvin Adult Learning Center has been established to offer flexible, learner-centered programming that supports diverse goals, including foundational skill building, English language acquisition, workforce readiness, and digital literacy. This instruction will be delivered through a mix of classes, small-group learning, and one-on-one tutoring. The Center will also provide online remote GED instruction via consistent, data-driven small group tutoring that will allow for flexible scheduling to help learners strengthen reading and math skills while progressing toward GED attainment.

Beyond instruction, the Center will function as a connector—linking learners to college pathways, workforce training, community organizations, and social supports.

Pro Literacy, the nation’s largest adult literacy and basic education organization, is providing strategic guidance and capacity-building support to help establish the Center and strengthen its leadership, operations, and programming as it evolves and broadens its reach.

Position Summary The Ruth Colvin Center Director will develop and guide the Center’s mission of empowering adults by providing accessible, high-quality literacy instruction that opens pathways to further education, meaningful employment, and full participation in civic and community life. The Director will work to advance the Center’s long-term vision of building a community where every adult can read, write, and communicate with confidence, thus unlocking lifelong learning and economic opportunity.

The Director will be an effective, compassionate individual who is prepared to work with linguistically and culturally diverse client populations and adults with literacy challenges to lead the Center in achieving its goals.
