Position: Staff Energy Engineer

We are currently searching for a Staff Mechanical Engineer to support our growing energy team. The role will help grow and deliver engineering design, energy efficiency, electrification, decarbonization, commissioning, renewable generation and other clean‑energy projects throughout the U.S., primarily in the Northeast U.S. You will collaborate with experienced professionals to develop projects, interact with clients, and build your technical capabilities.

Role accountabilities

As a Staff Energy Engineer, you will play a key role in the execution and delivery of projects with a primary focus on the HVAC and plumbing design of systems identified through energy audits. Your responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing building and energy codes, performing load calculations, equipment sizing and selection, and systems evaluation.
  • Designing HVAC systems and specifications using AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Supporting commissioning and construction management to ensure systems meet owner requirements and building codes.
  • Gathering, analyzing, and visualizing energy‑use data; completing efficiency and distributed‑generation calculations, building and system modeling, and technical/financial analyses for feasibility studies, audits, sustainability plans, and detailed designs.
  • Participating in field activities such as energy audits, lighting inventories, implementation oversight, and measurement and verification.
  • Managing project schedules, budgets, and client communication to ensure timely, cost‑effective completion.
  • Mentoring junior staff and providing technical and business guidance.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) required; experience with AutoCAD or Revit highly desirable.
Qualifications & experience Required qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC design and related construction field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field with proven work experience.
Preferred qualifications
  • 5+ years of prior work experience in consulting engineering or related MEP or clean‑energy sectors.
  • PE, CEM, LEED AP certification or other engineering/energy accreditation.
  • Experience or strong interest in project management and project delivery.

Salary

$90,000 – $105,000 (actual salaries vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location).
