Job Summary:

The Test Lab Technician will work in the R&D Engineering Lab and will be responsible for testing the electrical, mechanical, and environmental parameters or a wide range of fiber optical and coaxial products. This is an onsite position located at the East Syracuse, NY manufacturing facility and reports to the Lab Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Tests prototype product for optical performance, mechanical performance, and durability.
  • Testsproducts environmental parameters; including Ultra Violet, Salt fog, vibration, thermal cycling.
  • Assists with equipment set-up, lab configurations, equipment troubleshooting as well as implementing and following test lab processes.
  • Assists with the documentation, calibration, troubleshooting and/or preventative maintenance on lab equipment.
  • Reads and interprets schematics, blueprints, printouts and specifications as needed to complete tests to determine the functionality and performance of products.
  • Operates test device through prescribed sequences, reads and records test data, informing supervisor of deviations or variations not indicated or anticipated.

Required Skills and Experience

Education and Experience: Two year technical degree or equivalent certification with minimum two (2) years of experience within an electrical or fiber optic technician focused role.

Knowledge &

Skills:

Validation test lab environment experience with optical, mechanical and electronic systems, including setting up tests within environmental chambers preferred.

Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to utilize precision hand tools.
