Vice President of Engineering

Eaton Corporation is looking for a Vice President of Engineering NA for their Global Energy Infrastructure (GEIS) business. This position can be based in either Highland, IL or Syracuse, NY.

Reporting to the President, Americas (GEIS) business, the VP will support a $1.8 billion business with 2,500 employees in NA and lead a team of 8 direct reports and approximately 80 total employees across the United States, Pune, and the Philippines.

The VP is accountable for Engineering Strategy, Technology and Product Roadmaps, New Product Development, product support, technical customer support, talent, and functional performance. In partnership with global engineering and cross-functional leaders, the VP will accelerate growth, improve product and process performance, manage technical risk, and build scalable engineering capabilities across the GEIS portfolio.

• Lead regional engineering strategy and performance for GEIS NA, aligning priorities, capabilities, and resources with business growth objectives and global engineering direction
• Build a high-performing engineering organization by defining workforce and succession strategies; attracting, developing, and retaining critical talent; and strengthening the leadership and technical capabilities required for growth
• Establish and continuously improve the engineering operating system, including organization structure, processes and metrics
• Develop and align technology and multi-generation product roadmaps with business priorities, customer needs, portfolio strategy, and enterprise technology initiatives
• Direct the regional engineering portfolio to deliver approved programs on schedule, within budget, and against defined technical, quality, cost, and customer requirements
• Ensure effective current-product support and configuration management, including accurate engineering documentation, design standards, material specifications, standard operating procedures, and scalable SAP product data and configuration systems
• Drive engineering productivity and value creation through value analysis/value engineering, component optimization, design reuse, manufacturability improvements, and collaboration with global engineering resources and other business units
• Partner with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Commercial, customers, certification bodies, academia, and engineering centers to accelerate innovation and deliver customer-focused solutions from concept through lifecycle support
• Own engineering budgets, investment planning, resource allocation, and technical risk management, including product-liability considerations, to support strategic priorities and long-term business sustainability

• Demonstrated success leading complex, multi-site engineering or research and development organizations across multiple locations and cultures
• Working knowledge of modern product-development, systems-engineering, design-control, verification, configuration-management, and engineering-governance practices
• Proven ability to build organizational capability through workforce planning, recruiting, succession management, coaching, development, and organization design
• Ability to set strategy, translate it into executable plans, allocate resources, and deliver measurable business and technical results
• Ability to influence and collaborate across regional, global, and matrixed organizations and adapt communication to different audiences and cultures

• Minimum of 15 years of progressive engineering experience
