Position: Part-Time Faculty: Advanced Legal Topics - Asset Finance (Fall 2025)
Location: City of Syracuse

Job Description

The College of Law is seeking a part-time instructor to teach a 2 credit course, Advanced Legal Topics-Asset Finance, its online program. This course examines the legal and practical considerations of advising clients regarding financing transactions and how to best represent clients in those transactions. The course covers major asset classes (aircraft, ships, rail cars, and motor vehicles) and basic financing structures.

This course also examines secured lending under Article 9 of the UCC and leasing under Article 2A of the UCC, along with credit support and alternative financing structures. Relevant regulations, treaties, tax matters, insurance, and bankruptcy issues are also addressed. As part of this course, पकड़ students evaluate financing documents and participate in a simulated client representation for a proposed financing.

Responsibilities
  • Order the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
  • Prepare lectures, projects and other student assignments.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.

  • Meet all designated class periods.
  • Submit completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to the College of Law and University regulations.
  • Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
  • Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
Qualifications
  • Excellent academic record.
  • JD degree.
  • Post-JD experience and credentials must include at least 25 years of experience as a practicing lawyer with substantial experience handling asset finance matters in both domestic recuer international contexts.
