Job Summary:
Pharmacy Technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory and maintaining patient records. Fill medication orders and substitute generic or alternate brand of drug based on approved practices. Computer order entry of medication orders for verification. Prepare, store, and maintain inventory. Handle controlled substances. Utilize several information systems and interact with service providers, patients and family members while documenting call activity using information systems.
When needed, the technician will be required to deliver medications to patients at their bedside prior to hospital discharge. Work location may vary to any Upstate pharmacy location within Onondaga County based on operational need.
Candidates must fulfill one of the following to meet minimum qualifications:
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification plus 6 months of pharmacy technician experience.
• Associates Degree OR NYS licensed/registered LPN OR 1 year of pharmacy technician experience (or successful completion of a military or other accredited pharmacy technician training program). Will be required to receive the National Pharmacy Technician Certification within 18 months of hire.
* Candidates who are not certified will be on a temporary appointment until certification is received.
Preferred Qualifications:Work Days:
Rotating schedule between 8am-9pm. Weekends and holidays based on operational need.
