Location: Community Hospital – 4900 Broad Road, Syracuse, NY 13215. (Online applications accepted only.)

Schedule: Sunday – Wednesday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Full and part‑time shift options. More details upon interview.

Fixed Pay Rate: $19.06 per hour.

Required Experience: Serving experience is required.

Job Summary

Patient Dining Associates work on assigned units in a healthcare facility. They help patients make menu selections, assemble, deliver, and pick up their meal trays, and ensure meals are accurate, timely, and served at the correct temperature.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help patients understand menu selections and work with nursing to ensure orders comply with nutritional requirements or restrictions.
  • Work with caregivers and culinary team to determine menu alternatives for patients with food allergies, sensitivities, cultural, ethnic, or religious preferences.
  • Manage tray tickets and assemble meals according to each patient’s selection in a timely and accurate manner; retrieve trays from patient rooms at assigned times.
  • Comply with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO; adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • Follow HACCP guidelines when handling food, cleaning work stations, and breaking down patient tray lines.
  • Follow facility and department infection control policies.
  • Assist dietitians with monitoring patients who cannot eat orally, are on liquid diets, or have specific calorie counts.
  • Communicate problems or concerns to appropriate personnel in a timely manner, following department procedures.
  • Complete all daily, weekly or monthly reports as outlined in company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English.
  • Basic computer and math skills.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds and maneuver food delivery carts.
