Position Summary- Delivers direct patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. Performs tasks that do not require nursing judgements or administration of medications.
- Duties include, but not limited to: assisting patients with ADLs as needed, obtaining vital signs, completing 15-minute safety checks, unit is properly stocked and clean, and monitoring patients and visitors to ensure safety.
- Responsible for performing tasks as delegated to by the assigned RN, including but not limited to: phlebotomy draws, obtaining EKGs, completing blood glucose testing, assisting with patient care and transfer utilizing appropriate assistive devices, and administrative tasks as needed.
- Additional responsibilities include promoting the safety of patients, self, and others; identifying escalating behaviors early and working to diffuse the situation; promoting a restraint‑free environment; assisting with emergency safety situations including restraint application, seclusion, Code G/Code M responses, and 1:1 safety watches.
- Is accountable for the patient care they deliver. Adheres to St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center standards of care and practice.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum of 2 years of healthcare‑related work experience, customer service and strong communication skills preferred.
- Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Completes population‑specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.
Use moderately complex patient care devices and medical equipment. Actively use a specific application of a personal computer.
Current BLS/CPR certification required, and First Aid training.
Work Environment and HazardsOffice/clinical setting. Exposure class I.
Physical DemandsHeavy work (over ): requires standing, lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying for long periods. Must have visual and auditory acuity adequate to perform observations and patient care.
Pay Range$19.00 – $25.90 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
