Pharmacist - Oncology at Upstate Medical University
. This pharmacist will primarily provide pharmacy services at Upstate’s Cancer Center Downtown and as needed at our other regional Upstate oncology clinics located in Central New York. Under the direction of the hospital’s Pharmacy Department, the Cancer Center Pharmacy functions via a dedicated pharmacy space with its own modern sterile products laboratory. The applicant will work with a team of oncology-trained pharmacists and technicians to manage the preparation and oversight of oncology treatments.

This includes, but is not limited to, patient profile review, sterile and non-sterile medication validation/preparation, patient counseling, formulary/inventory management, and staff/provider communication.

• Interpret medication orders and prescriptions to ensure that they are complete, safe, rational, and compatible with institutional policy.
• Prepare compounds and dispense medications for inpatient and ambulatory care use, including the preparation of injectable sterile products.
• Dispense pharmacy-related items and perform duties in all areas of Pharmacy to include inpatient, ambulatory care and satellites.
• Provide information to health care practitioners to promote the rational use of medications and provide drug monitoring service.
• Maintain Pharmacy records by law and institutional policy; interpret policies and procedures for hospital staff.
• Participate in teaching programs for hospital staff and in Pharmacy Department quality assurance programs.

• B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm.
  
  D and NYS Pharmacist license and registration (or eligible) required.

• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• Previous pharmacy oncology experience or completion of a PGY-2 Oncology Residency preferred.
• Previous pharmacy sterile products experience preferred.
