Shift: Night Shift | 3x12-Hour (19:00 – 07:00)

Job Overview

ESO Consultants is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to support acute care services at Upstate University Hospital. This position is ideal for a highly skilled respiratory professional with strong acute care and pediatric experience. The role requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to float between units and campuses as needed.

This is a night-shift position with every other weekend and holiday coverage required. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated. Preference will be given to candidates residing outside a 100-mile radius.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer positive pressure and aerosol therapy to patients
  • Initiate, monitor, and manage oxygen therapy
  • Assist physicians in instituting and maintaining continuous mechanical ventilation
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when required
  • Conduct pulmonary function testing
  • Perform radial arterial punctures
  • Monitor patients in acute care settings with minimal orientation or supervision
  • Read and interpret telemetry strips
  • Provide IV therapy support as required
  • Float to other departments and campuses based on staffing needs
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow hospital protocols
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care
Schedule & Work Requirements
  • Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • 3x12-hour shifts per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays required based on weekend rotation
  • No block scheduling permitted
Requirements

Education:

  • Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Respiratory Therapy (Required)

Licensure &

Certifications:

  • Active New York State Respiratory Therapist license/registration (Required)
  • RRT Credential (Required)
  • PALS (Required for Emergency Department coverage)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of acute care hospital experience (Required)
  • Minimum of 2 years within respiratory specialty (Required)
  • Experience in a Level I or Level II facility (Preferred)
  • Pediatric experience (Preferred)
  • IV Therapy experience (Required)
  • Telemetry monitoring experience (Required)

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to function independently in a fast-paced acute care environment
    • Flexibility to float across units and campuses
    • Successful completion of pre-employment health clearance
