Position Overview
We are a downtown Syracuse law firm seeking an experienced Accounting/Payroll Manager on a full-time basis. The Accounting/Payroll Manager is the primary team member for payroll administration and manages payroll processes for W2, 1099, and K-1 tax classifications. Additional responsibilities include overseeing 401(k) and Cash Balance Plan payroll and documentation. Hybrid schedule is offered after the training period, and the office is located in a beautiful downtown Syracuse location.
Pay: $90,000.00 - $ per year.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and compliance issues across multiple states.
- Supervise and mentor the Senior Payroll Analyst.
- Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Monitor changes in payroll laws, tax regulations, and benefits requirements.
- Develop, analyze, and maintain complex payroll analytics and reports.
- Provide expert and confidential support to the HR Administrator and HR Director on payroll, compliance, and policy matters.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- 10+ years of payroll administration experience, preferably in a legal or professional services firm.
- Experience managing payroll for W2 and 1099; knowledge of K-1 tax classification desired.
- Knowledge of 401(k) payroll administration.
- Knowledge of Cash Balance Plan preferred.
- Advanced MS skills: pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis.
- Highly proficient with payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance and relevant labor laws.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve compliance issues.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to supervise and collaborate effectively.
