Correction Officer Trainees are required to participate in, and satisfactorily complete, requirements of a 12-month training program before advancing to Correction Officer. As part of the program, you will attend the Correctional Services Training Academy for a minimum 8-week formal training program.
Correction Officers are responsible for the custody and security, as well as for the safety and well-being of incarcerated individuals in state correctional facilities, shock incarceration correctional facilities, work release centers and a drug treatment campus.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary (Effective March 31, 2022):
Correction Officer Trainee (Grade 13) and Correction Officer (Grade 14): $56,465 - Starting salary (during Academy training and first year), $59,578 after one year to $72,904 after 7 years.
Appointees may be eligible for ADVANCED PLACEMENT UPON APPOINTMENT to full performance level Grade 14 with starting salary up to $72,904.

- 104 hours of vacation annually, up to a maximum of 156 hours, depending on length of service.
