Responsibilities

The Case Manager will assist in planning and implementing the daily operations and activities of the MAC grant through NYS OTDA. The MAC Youth Case Manger will help recruit program participants for participation in career awareness activities, tutoring, socialization activities, health and financial literacy workshops, and other youth development activities. Students will be from refugee backgrounds. Assist in developing, planning and managing activities for refugee youth ages 15-24 years old focused on academics, health, career development, financial literacy and community integration.

Assist in recruiting mentors in the community to work with refugee youth and coordinate direct activities that support youth in developing their skills in the above listed five categories. Assist in developing programs and activities for refugee youth after school and on weekends and provide support for youth and their families, as needed. Assist in creating lesson plans and instructional activities using resources that focus on English learning and social adjustment, including engaging youth in interesting activities and discussions.

Assist in overseeing and coordinating Recreational and Civic Service Activities, Summer Academy and other youth programming with youth staff, volunteers, interns and mentors. Gather information and help clients complete intake forms. Assist youth program staff with academic support activities such as facilitating communication between schools and families, arranging homework assistance, tutoring, English classes and Regents test preparation to promote academic success of the refugee students.

Assist youth program staff in organizing social and educational activities like cooking, art, music, sports, STEM activities and holiday parties. Assist youth program staff in planning field trips and other recreational activities. Communicate with parents regularly about the activities of the program. Act as advocates for the youth and assist families use email, apps, other technology to stay notified of Syracuse City School District communications.

Serve as advocate and resource for program, staff, and program participants. Monitor expenses and use of program assets. Establish short and long-term program objectives and ensure grant requirements are met. Insure the maintenance and timely completion of all program statistics and reports, including case notes and billing points in NYS BIN system. Hold weekly team meetings. Work collaboratively with Refugee Resettlement and other Refugee Youth Program staff.

Work as a team member in implementation of all youth programming at Northside CYO. Transport Clients in agency vehicle as needed and maintain a safe driving record. Follow all CCOC volunteer policy and NYS guidelines for youth mentors and volunteers. Maintain guidelines established by the funding sources and agency policies and procedures and any other duties as assigned.

This is a FULL-TIME, 35-hour per week position. The candidate must be available to work after school, evenings, and occasional weekends as needed. Pay is $22.00/hour.
