Reports to: Chief Development Officer

Location: 1603 Court Street, Syracuse, NY 13208

Pay Rate: $65,000 – $75,000 Annually

Schedule: Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Working closely with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Office of Mental Health, we support 27 housing locations and 3 administrative buildings.

About

The Role

We are looking for a proactive employee to be responsible for Agency fundraising, donor cultivation and stewardship, annual giving, agency events, grant writing, and other duties associated with the Development, Advocacy, & Communications Program.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan in alignment with Agency mission
  • Cultivate, solicit and steward individual, corporate and planned gifts
  • Produce several solicitation mailings yearly
  • Assist in management of online giving platforms with Development Coordinator
  • Assist in generation of fundraising communications, including social media
  • Identify and research prospective donors
  • Develop profiles for major gift donors, long-term donors, and donor prospects
  • Oversee donor stewardship and follow-up for assigned individuals/groups
  • Assist Board members, management staff, and volunteers with donor stewardship
  • Assist the Chief Development Officer with preparing and writing grants
  • Assist the Chief Development Officer in cultivating relationships with local foundations and their staff
  • Coordinate records with Finance and program staff for grant administration, documentation, and reporting
  • Manage logistics for agency events
  • Lead and manage event‑related, fundraising and special committees
  • Serve as community liaison representing the Agency at third‑party and networking events
  • Assist the Chief Development Officer in managing the Community Relations and Resource Development Committee
  • Assist in management of event‑related websites with Development Coordinator
  • Assist in generation of event communications, including social media
  • Monitor and analyze donor data to align and adjust fundraising plan
  • Review detailed records regarding donors and their gifts in Agency database, including Raiser’s Edge software
  • Oversee paper files for major donors, foundations, planned giving, memorials, etc.
  • Make changes and updates to database, as needed
  • Produce and submit regular reports to Chief Development Officer, Agency Executive Team and Board of Directors
  • Reconcile donation data with the Finance Department
  • Conduct self in a professional manner
  • Follow Agency standards and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as with company policies
  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned
Education/Experience

Associate’s degree with seven years of development experience or bachelor’s degree with five years of development experience, required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint. Position requires strong writing skills. Database experience required. Experience with Raiser’s Edge, preferred;
Raiser’s Edge training will be offered.

Conditions Of Employment

Must have a valid NYS Driver License in accordance with the Agency Vehicle and Driving policy and reliable transportation necessary to meet program needs. Must respect confidentiality.
