Job Summary
The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned nursing area(s) to facilitate and deliver comprehensive, quality nursing care. This role involves managing the environment in which care is given, prioritizing tasks for nursing staff, resolving staffing issues, and assisting with goals, planning, customer service, standards, certification, accreditation, administrative and budget management, personnel resource management, communication, and quality activities.
Ensures adherence to hospital, department, university, and nursing policies, procedures, standards, and practices. The Assistant Nurse Manager exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Master's degree in Nursing
- NYS Licensed/Registered (or eligible) RN
- Two years of post-licensure acute care RN experience, preferably in a specialty area
- CPR-BLS certification completed by the time of appointment
- Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Nursing Leadership certification (strongly preferred)
- Prior leadership experience
