OverviewBirthplace (LDRP)/Labor & Delivery (LDR) unit provides family-centered care for antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum mothers and newborns, including surgical procedures and gynecology triage. Specialized training is provided for obstetrical and gynecological care.

Responsibilities- Collaborate, communicate and facilitate family-centered provision of care, education for families/caregivers, goal setting, and critical thinking.
- Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor and evaluate the patient's plan of care from admission to discharge.
- Attend and support care of newborns during high-risk deliveries.
- Provide quality patient monitoring, med/surg nursing interventions, and hands-on skills including labor & delivery monitoring, post-surgical care, respiratory support and more.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including OB providers, certified nurse midwives, nurses, lactation consultants, social workers and spiritual care.
- Ensure nursing care is rendered in accordance with the NYS Nurse Practice Act, national standards, and organizational standards of care.
- Ensure seamless, effective transition of care across the continuum.
- Participate in monitoring quality metrics for the department and maintain complete and accurate documentation.
- Act as mentor, clinician, educator, consultant/collaborator, and navigator.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure in the State of New York.
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred, per NYS requirements.
- Graduate Nurse Residency positions available for GN/RN with < 1 year experience.
- Specialty credentialing and education as relevant to practice area preferred.
- Maintains all licensures and certifications per NYS regulations and specialty requirements.
- Participates in continuing education to maintain knowledge and skills.
- Clinical ladder advancement with experience, staff engagement and national certification.
