Job Summary:
This position provides veterinary care and support services to investigators in 3 facilities encompassing a total of 60,000+ square feet. Species vary, but the primary focus is on rodents and aquatics. The incumbent will provide primary clinical care for all species with the support of the DLAR Director and will supervise two veterinary technicians. This will include primary responsibility for biosecurity, import-export, animal vendor approval, and clinical pharmacy inventory control.
Other duties will include investigator and staff training, research consultation and planning, as well as technical and surgical support.
Additional duties may include IACUC participation, other administrative responsibilities, or independent research depending on the needs of the institution and the interests of the candidate.
Minimum Qualifications:Current veterinary licensure in at least one U.S. state and two years of full-time post‑veterinary education and/or experience in the veterinary care of the standard species used in a biomedical research setting.
Preferred Qualifications:- Board certification (or board eligibility) by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM).
- NYS veterinary licensure
- Advanced research degree (PhD, MS)
Monday‑Friday plus rotating weekends and holidays
