Location: City of Syracuse

Overview

Veterinarian wanted full-time (or part-time) for 2 doctor, small-animal practice. This long-established clinic specializes exclusively in small‑animal care and incorporates advanced technology such as digital radiography, intraoral dental x‑ray, ultrasound, sevoflurane anesthesia, radiowave surgery, high‑speed dental machine, pulse oximetry, EKG, blood pressure and CO₂ monitoring.

Responsibilities
  • Provide medical and surgical care of patients through evaluation, diagnosis, general surgery, anesthesia, cytology, patient care, client education, radiology, ultrasound and discharge;
  • Direct other staff members in patient and client care and coordinate invoicing, hospitalization and the dispensing of medication.
Work Schedule

Minimum 40 hours per week with a flexible schedule regarding coverage of occasional weekends and evenings.

SUNY Oswego is located in proximity, providing part‑time employee opportunities for students.

Our client base is primarily dogs and cats (≈98% caseload) with a focus on prevention: proper immunization, nutrition, parasite control, behavior management, exercise and accident prevention. We provide evidence‑based care and perform limited emergency service for regular clients. We do not perform orthopedic or cosmetic surgery, and refer patients requiring specialized care to regional specialists in Syracuse, Rochester or Cornell.

Requirements

Must be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in New York State. General surgery and anesthesia skills preferred. Candidates must complete required continuing education, follow the practice’s policies, lift 50 pounds, and stand for extended periods of time. Possibility for educational debt assistance and ownership interest may be discussed for the right candidate.
