Location: City of Syracuse
Youth Care Specialist (2nd Shift Shift Differential)
Location:
Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracuse, NY.
Position:
Full-time Youth Care Specialist working the 2nd shift (Wednesday through Saturday, 1:00 pm–11:30 pm) at the Garcia House.
Pay: $17.50 per hour, plus $1.00 shift differential.
Work Schedule- Wednesdays through Saturdays: 1:00 pm–11:30 pm.
- Engage with youth as a safe adult, role model and consistent support.
- Participate as a team player to provide consistent and reliable care for the youth staying in shelter.
- Share pertinent client information via documentation, participation in meetings, and on an individual basis as needed, maintaining confidentiality as appropriate.
- Support the Rescue Mission by operating within its Vision, Mission Statement and Core Values, promoting the Rescue Mission both at and outside of work and familiarizing yourself and complying with all Rescue Mission policies and procedures.
- Use Positive Youth Development framework, support youth in skills necessary to reunify with family, while also improving Independent Living Skills.
- Model and encourage healthy and safe interactions for youth, utilize a Restorative Justice framework to address conflicts.
- Regularly clean living spaces to ensure a clean and safe environment for clients.
- Assist with mealtime by preparing and cooking food for clients.
- Promote a safety‑first attitude while using the Harm Reduction framework to support youth in improving their long‑term ability to keep themselves safe.
- Be regularly and predictably present in person – mandatory attendance is an essential requirement of the job.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in human services or related field, or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents, the homeless, addicted and/or mentally ill populations preferred.
- Must be approved through the Office of Children & Family Services (OCFS) to work at this facility.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License in compliance with company policy is preferred.
