Energy Management Controller

$38.28 – $56.93 PER HOUR Starting wage dependent on qualifications and experience

North Davis Sewer District is seeking an experienced, hands-on Energy Management Controller to maintain and operate the District's cogeneration engines and advanced energy generation systems. This position is ideal for an experienced mechanical or industrial maintenance professional who enjoys complex troubleshooting, engine repair, and keeping critical equipment operating reliably.

• Maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul, and repair cogeneration engines and emergency diesel generators.
• Operate and maintain boilers, heat recovery equipment, solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems, and microgrid equipment.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, fuel, cooling, lubrication, and control system issues.
• Monitor power generation and system performance.
• Maintain gas management systems and ensure required air quality and emissions compliance.
• Provide technical guidance and support to plant operations and maintenance personnel.

• High school diploma and graduation from an accredited technical college in diesel/automotive mechanics, welding/fabrication, electrical technology, power generation, or power distribution.
• Minimum of eight years of relevant industrial, heavy equipment, or wastewater equipment maintenance and repair experience.
• Significant hands‑on cogeneration engine and diesel generator experience highly desirable.
• Experience with solar PV, battery energy storage, and microgrid systems preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Grade IV Utah Wastewater Operator Certification, or ability to obtain within two years.
• Class B CDL with tanker endorsement, or ability to obtain within 18 months.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds.
• Willingness to participate in on‑call duties and respond to the plant within 30 minutes of emergency call‑out.
• Membership in the District's Emergency Response Team.
