Who We Are

Located in the scenic Puget Sound area with Mount Rainier in the distance, Tacoma is the third largest city in Washington State with a thriving and diverse community of over 200,000 residents. Tacoma Community College (TCC) was built on the ancestral territory of Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Puyallup and Squaxin Island Tribes. The 1854 Medicine Creek Treaty forcibly removed them to Reservations to make way for colonizers;

Part‑time positions at the college are open continuous and reviewed on a quarter‑by‑quarter basis. Position Summary

This position is responsible for preparing and teaching courses in English Language Acquisition and/or English for Academic Purposes. This position may work with both immigrant /refugee populations as well as international students with proficiency levels from beginning/ basic to college‑level English.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare, teach, and assess outcomes in assigned courses in accordance with department and college standards
  • Assess student learning and use data to improve teaching and learning
  • Maintain current knowledge in the field of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and effective pedagogy
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in TESOL or Adult Education or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
