The DepartmentThe Generation Engineering Section provides multidisciplinary engineering services for capital and maintenance projects related to hydroelectric and fisheries facilities. The department manages assets including dams, reservoirs, hydroelectric generators, fish hatcheries, and related infrastructure.

The PositionSeeking a Mechanical Engineer (Associate Power Systems Engineer, Senior, or Power Systems Engineer, PE level) to provide technical services for projects at hydroelectric and fisheries facilities. The role involves ensuring the reliability and efficiency of mechanical systems, supporting operational and maintenance activities, and contributing to project design and execution.
Salary Range$107,328 - $ annually.
Education and Experience Associate Power Systems Engineer, Senior- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- 2 years of engineering experience in a power utility or Washington State EIT certification
- Or equivalent experience
- Must complete Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) training within 6 months
- Washington State Driver’s License
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related
- 4 years of professional engineering experience
- Or equivalent experience
- Washington State Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Washington State Driver’s License
- Participate in design, fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of fish facilities and hydropower systems
- Prepare and review calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications
- Support procurement, installation, testing, and project activities
- Coordinate with contractors and staff for system upgrades and repairs
- Plan and oversee mechanical equipment installation and disassembly
- Provide operational, maintenance, and asset management recommendations
- Manage mechanical equipment including generators, turbines, valves, gates, cranes, pumps, and water systems
