Peraton is seeking a Senior API Developer to join the team in support of a development environment to help drive system innovation for related services and designing web and mobile based API interfaces with a focus on performance and security.

• Develop custom API interfaces to enable solution capabilities across the supported development platform.
• Plan, direct, and coordinate all activities associated with creating software across multiple functional areas and products.
• Prioritize and allocate projects, products, and resources with the assistance of architects and managers.
• Participate in strategic decisions about technology, definition, and implementation of software products.
• Direct software development projects to ensure completion on time and according to quality standards, facilitating communication upward and across the project team.
• Organize projects through development of a project plan that includes communication of product goals, definition of project strategy, identification of roles and responsibilities, development of a schedule with key milestones, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of resources.
• Monitor technology trends such as emerging standards for new technology opportunities.

• Strong customer service and communications skills, oral and written.
• Strong critical thinking skills that facilitate expedient problem solving.
• Proficient in RESTful API design, versioning, and documentation.
• Skilled in Java, Python, or JavaScript and experienced with frameworks such as Spring, Flask, or Node.js.
• Familiar with API security standards (OAuth 2.0, JWT, API key management).
• Experience writing unit and integration tests for APIs and working with mocking/testing tools.
• Ability to mentor junior developers and work collaboratively in Agile environments.

* This position is contingent upon Peraton receiving an award.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience with BS/BA; minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; minimum of 3 years with PhD; 12 years with HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in the use and deployment of API interfaces.
• Current active IAT II certification with related coding in Computing Environment (CE) certifications to comply with DoD 8570 and DoD 8140.03 requirements.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust.
• Must be a US Citizen.

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
