Machinist​/Programmer

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist / Programmer to independently program, set up, and run parts from raw material through finished product. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning the full machining process and working hands‑on with 3‑axis vertical mills in a production environment focused primarily on aluminum parts.

Compensation: $30–$35 per hour (DOE)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM;
Must be open to overtime

Location: Tacoma, WA

Responsibilities:

• Take print drawings and independently plan machining processes
• Determine machining strategy, tooling selection, and work holding
• Create and edit CNC programs using Mastercam
• Generate and modify tool paths to meet print requirements
• Set work and tool offsets and run parts from raw material through completion
• Program, set up, and operate 3‑axis HAAS vertical milling machines
• Optimize programs for accuracy, surface finish, and efficiency
• Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet print and quality standards

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of Mastercam, G-code machining fundamentals, and blueprint interpretation
• Ability to independently take a print drawing and deliver a finished part that passes inspection
• Experience machining aluminum parts on 3‑axis vertical mills
• Comfortable programming and machining own parts (approximately 50/50 programming vs. machine operation)
• Experience using Solid Works preferred
• Willingness to complete a hands‑on skills test during the interview process, including independently programming and machining a part using a HAAS CNC, printed drawing, and Mastercam
