Practical Nurse – Internal Medicine Clinic

This position is located in the Internal Medicine Clinic at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. Typical duty hours are Monday through Friday from 07:30 to 16:00. It is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

• Provide individualized nursing care to patients and/or family members of all ages based upon the physician’s medical care plan, nursing assessment, and the physical, mental, and emotional needs of the patient.
• Assist the physician with examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Prepare medications and immunizations for administration.
• Perform routine procedures such as EKGs, eye, throat, nasal and/or wound cultures, dressing changes, ear irrigation, and application of bandages.
• Recognize adverse signs and symptoms immediately, call for assistance, and, if warranted, perform CPR.
• Set up, operate, and monitor specialized equipment.

Performs other duties as assigned.

US Citizens only. Must meet the Basic Requirement for Practical Nurse: a current license to practice as a practical or vocational nurse in the United States or applied for a license and provide the license copy or statement. Non‑licensed candidates who completed training may be appointed subject to obtaining the required license during probation.

Additional Requirements:

One year of nursing experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical facility providing practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques, assisting with minor medical procedures, individualized nursing care, and administering oral medication and immunizations.
