LPN/LVN Corrections Licensed Practical Nurse
LPN/LVN Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse for a facility housing individuals detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Tacoma, WA.
Nurses in this Health Services facility practice in a collaborative environment, providing ambulatory, emergency, mental health, and infirmary care. Nurses are the largest group of healthcare providers within the facilities, providing care 24/7.
DAILY DUTIES- Intake screening to identify conditions requiring referral or treatment
- Administering medications
- Supporting other providers in the clinic
- Providing a wide range of treatments such as wound care, electrocardiograms, ear lavage, phlebotomy, nebulizer therapy, and tuberculosis skin tests
- Provide direct care to patients
- Administer medications as ordered, via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous, topical, ophthalmic, and other routes
- Perform prescreening and intake screening of newly arrived patients
- Use established intake tools to gather subjective and objective data, referring abnormal findings to appropriate healthcare providers
- Perform treatments such as wound care, vital sign checks, electrocardiograms, etc., as ordered
- Collect laboratory specimens and perform point-of-care testing or prepare specimens for lab processing; act on lab results appropriately
- Respond to medical emergencies, render emergency care, stabilize patients, and transfer to appropriate care levels
- Assist other healthcare professionals by gathering data, providing care, and educating patients
- May be required to participate in involuntary, court-ordered care
- Current, full, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in Washington or a compact state allowing practice in Washington
- Minimum one year experience in a hospital, medical office, or residential setting
- Experience in a detention/correctional or residential healthcare setting is preferred
- Graduate from a Vocational/Practical Nurse program approved by a State, the District of Columbia, or U.S. territory
- Maintain Basic Life Support for Providers (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
