Gardener – Part‑time job at Making A Difference Foundation in Tacoma, WA.

The Gardener is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the beauty of the gardens and landscaping managed by the Making A Difference Foundation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gardening and a desire to contribute to the foundation's mission of providing healthy food options for the community.

This is a part‑time position requiring approximately 15–20 hours per week, with flexible hours based on the needs of the garden and planting schedules.

• Planting, watering, weeding, and maintaining garden beds
• Harvesting fruits and vegetables during the growing season
• Assisting with the design and layout of garden spaces
• Maintaining tools and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient usage
• Collaborating with volunteers and interns to help educate them about sustainable gardening practices
• Monitoring plant health and identifying any pest or disease issues
• Keeping detailed records of garden activities, including planting dates and harvest yields
• Participating in community outreach events to promote the garden and its benefits

• Knowledge of gardening practices and techniques, including organic gardening
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills
• A high school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous gardening or landscaping experience preferred
• Physical ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds, bend, kneel, and work outdoors in various weather conditions
• A passion for sustainable agriculture and community service
