As an Applebee's Assistant Manager, you will be engaged in all aspects of day‑to‑day restaurant operations, ensuring guests and staff have a passionate experience every day.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Ensures timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, achieving established objectives.
- Cultivates a culture in accordance with the Flynn Applebee's Premier Card of our core values and beliefs.
- Ensures the immediate response and correction of all verbal guest complaints to self and staff.
- Ensures guest contact as a priority with completion of required table visits as established by Flynn Applebee's standards.
- Maintains departmental inventory levels.
- Ensures product preparation and presentation meet company standards by performing line checks.
- Effectively schedules employees to meet sales demands.
- Maintains effective safety and security programs.
- Promotes and leads restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation.
- Performs routine maintenance and immediately reports needed repairs to the GM/Area Director.
- Promotes quality recruitment and referrals of potential team member and management candidates.
- Promotes Flynn | Applebee's training procedures for new managers.
- Helps maintain a trained staff through effective use of employment orientation, individual training sessions, employee meetings and implementation of company policy and training systems.
- Participates in the constant development of employees using one‑on‑one sessions and performance documentation, contributing to completion of written evaluations.
- Assesses employee efficiency, provides fair feedback regularly, and works with employees on development areas.
- Monitors acceptable employee performance and documents situations that require disciplinary or corrective action.
- Assures compliance with company policies, practices and procedures.
- Responsible for controlling cost in assigned department.
- Compliance with local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines.
- Drives bi‑weekly / weekly food and liquor inventories at the AD/GM's request and is accountable for completion.
- Prepares and submits accurate daily paperwork.
- Ensures sanitation standards meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee's standards.
- Provides a role model for managers and employees.
- Develops self on all store‑related technology.
- Must be willing and able to work in all positions and assist in a team member position as needed (e.g., cooking, expo, seating, bartending).
- Uses the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills and proficiencies.
- At least 2–3 years of restaurant management experience.
- Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol certifications are a plus.
Assistant Managers earn $17.48 – $25 per hour, approximately $50,000 – $71,500 annually (based on a 50‑hour work week). Potential for monthly bonus where applicable.
Competitive wages, profit sharing/bonus, medical/dental/vision, HSA, short/long‑term disability, life, hospital indemnity, critical illness, AD&D, legal, 401(k) with match, paid vacation, paid sick leave. Managers with 6 months of continuous employment receive 5 days of PTO until their first anniversary. Employees are eligible for additional vacation time of 40‑200 hours per year based on tenure. Part‑time managers receive a prorated amount of PTO.
This job is also eligible for profit‑share bonuses.
- Work various shifts, including weekends.
- Stand and move comfortably for up to ten (10) hours.
- Safely lift pots, pans, glassware, boxes, etc. up to 50 pounds.
- Read and write for communication; possess finger and hand dexterity for small tools and equipment.
