Security Specialist: Temporary Seasonal Winter Shelter

This is a Temporary Seasonal position for a winter shelter, only in operation for the months of January - March 2026.

Fosters a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all guests, clients, donors, volunteers, and staff by deterring unlawful activity, protecting TRM’s population and property, and ensuring compliance of all established rules and regulations through a trauma-informed, person-first, and grace-based approach.

• Interacts with all guests, clients, donors, volunteers, and staff, monitoring behavior and maintaining good rapport by providing excellent customer service and encouraging all to comply with TRM policy and procedures.
• Patrols assigned campus regularly, including all hallways, stairwells, floors, bathrooms, laundry rooms, kitchen/food storage, office spaces, and campus exterior/surroundings to assure that the campus is safe.
• Works collaboratively with other staff, responding to all requests for assistance.
• Manages security infringements and emergencies such as loitering, traffic or crowd control, trespassing, fire, medical situations, threats, and performs crisis intervention to de-escalate potential crisis situations as needed.
• Ensures that daily documentation is kept concise and complete at all times, investigating all security related accidents/incidents and reporting to supervisor for follow up and direction.
• Makes calls to police, fire department, and other first responders as directed and/or as needed.
• Maintains resident confidentiality, properly storing and disposing documents per TRM standard.
• Embodies the values that form our culture to meet the organization’s mission of sharing God’s love, hope, and support with our neighbors in need to uplift communities.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support others and ensure an efficient and effective work environment.

Interacts in a relational manner with people from diverse backgrounds. Indoor and outdoor environment with light custodial duties.

Schedule:
Multiple Schedules Available (40 hours per week)

• Schedule A:
  Sunday - Wednesday, 9am - 7pm
• Schedule B:
  Wednesday - Saturday, 9am - 7pm
• Schedule C:
  Friday - Monday, 9am - 7pm

* Exact schedule will be discussed during interview. Schedule may be adjusted to meet guest and staff safety issues or coverage.
