Base pay range$26.54/hr - $28.85/hr

Position Summary: The Loss Prevention Area Investigator is responsible for leading programs and processes to protect company assets and minimize exposure to losses in accordance with industry and organizational investigative practices. The LP Area Investigator will analyze system activity and exception reports to identify potential theft and to coordinate, conduct and direct internal and external investigations.Hourly Rate: $26.54 - $28.85 per hour Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Loss Prevention Area Investigator responsibilities include the following and other duties as assigned:
- Develop, utilize, and modify exception reports from POS and other financial data systems to identify likely sources of loss.
- Coordinate contract and other non-organizational resources including undercover operatives, loss prevention, surveillance and protective personnel as necessary.
- Conduct surveillance operations of company activities or other relevant potential loss events.
- Accurately and truthfully communicate activities, actions, efforts, and any findings in both written and oral formats.
- Develop and maintain contacts with appropriate government, business, and professional peers.
- Provide after-hours/weekend services through the Loss Prevention Duty Phone and coordinate assistance for alarms and other issues that may arise.
- Prepare investigative materials and testimony for presentation for use by organizational management and criminal, civil, or quasi-legal proceedings.
- Effectively apply systems data such as stored video images, access records, alarm activity logs, safe access logs, tracking devices to research and information gathering relevant to current loss prevention efforts.
Successfully complete investigations of actual and potential loss or illegal activity as directed by the Director of Loss Prevention and Safety; prioritize and execute investigative activities to ensure efficient use of organizational resources.
Conduct/Participate in AuditsConduct and assist in the development of structured audit activities at all company locations such as loss prevention best practice reviews and cash audits.
Train Organizational PersonnelCommunicate, guide, coach and train organizational personnel of methods to identify, deter and control losses and their role in protecting the organization.

Qualifications/BasicJob Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in related field (Business, Criminal Justice, Security) and two years of experience in formal investigations OR 4-6 years of formal multi-location investigative experience, preferably in a retail environment.
- Formal security training and certifications preferred such as CFE and PCI amongst others.
- Interview/Interrogation experience with industry accepted methods, such as Wicklander-Zulawski.
- Exceptional analytical, judgment, decision-making and communications skills.
- Superior coaching, leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build understanding and consensus.
Language
Skills:
A strong command of the English language. Knowledge of multiple languages helpful. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and average.
Computer
Skills:
Knowledge and experience using common office suite applications with specific emphasis on word processing, spreadsheets, and email applications. Practical experience with photo and video editing applications preferred. Software based DVR/CCTV systems experience preferred.
Other
Skills and Abilities:
Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of Loss Prevention Area Investigator.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Washington State Drivers License with proof of insurance required. Strong preference for one or more of the following certifications:
