Lead Maintenance Technician

This is a hands-on senior technician role, not a desk-based maintenance-management position. The Lead Maintenance Technician will spend significant time inspecting equipment, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting failures, completing repairs, preparing systems for deployment, and supporting field operations. The role leads the execution of the maintenance program through technical ownership and disciplined follow-through.

Aquagga systems may include:

  • Pumps, valves, piping, and fittings
  • Motors and mechanical assemblies
  • Instrumentation and sensors
  • Electrical and control components
  • High-temperature and high-pressure process equipment
  • Supporting treatment and utility equipment

The technician is expected to troubleshoot within their training and authority and escalate design, controls, configuration, or safety-critical issues when appropriate.

Additional responsibilities may include maintaining:

  • Preventive-maintenance schedules
  • Service and equipment histories
  • Deficiency tracking
  • Parts and spare-parts records
  • Pre- and post-deployment inspection requirements
  • Troubleshooting guides
  • Maintenance checklists
  • Work instructions

A key part of the position is identifying recurring failures and communicating reliability trends to Engineering and technical leadership.

The Lead Maintenance Technician will become qualified to operate Aquagga's HALT systems. Depending on qualification level, responsibilities may include:

  • Startup and shutdown
  • System monitoring
  • Equipment checks
  • Sampling
  • Alarm response
  • Cooldown
  • Operating logs
  • Recognizing abnormal conditions

The technician is not expected to independently make undocumented design, controls, or process changes.

Travel may reach approximately 40% of the year and may include periods of heavier field activity. Assignments may involve:

  • Multi-week deployments
  • Customer industrial sites
  • Department of Defense installations
  • Occasional night or nonstandard shifts
  • Mobilization, commissioning, maintenance, and demobilization

Additional experience that would be valuable includes industrial water or wastewater treatment, commissioning, field startup, high-temperature or high-pressure systems, chemical-processing equipment, instrumentation, PLC/HMI systems, industrial control panels, electrical controls, technical apprenticeships, OSHA training, or HAZWOPER.

Strong candidates typically:

  • Enjoy diagnosing equipment problems
  • Take ownership of equipment condition
  • Keep accurate maintenance records
  • Verify repairs before returning equipment to service
  • Look for recurring failure patterns
  • Know when to troubleshoot and when to escalate
  • Communicate clearly with Engineering and field teams
  • Work safely around industrial equipment
  • Follow through until systems are confirmed ready

The goal of this role is not simply to repair broken equipment. It is to prevent failures, improve reliability, and keep Aquagga's systems ready for safe operation and deployment.
