Overview
This position is located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord Aquatics Program.
Incentives and Bonuses- Incentives will be paid.
- Cash bonus authorized.
- Selectees from this vacancy are eligible to receive a cash bonus of $500 after working 50 hours and another cash bonus of $500 after working 100 hours.
- Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.
- Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility. Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
- Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards.

- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position to include a physical and child care checks due to regular and recurring contact with children.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS);
- American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED);
- First Aid. For Water Parks upgrade the certification to: 'Waterpark Lifeguarding and First Aid; CPR/PR/AED' (American Red Cross)
- Oxygen Administration "O2 bottles" the O2 Administration certification (American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration or installation offered training (i.e. Fire Dept.) must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty.
- Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
- Lifeguards must have good vision (based on an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better with glasses/contacts or uncorrected. Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear person protective equipment.
- Must be able to work a schedule that may include working some nights, weekends, and possible holidays.
