OverviewJoin a High-Precision Engineering Team. We are looking for a Senior Manufacturing Technician (Milling) to join our growing team in Tadcaster. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled machinist who thrives on precision, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

What you'll be doing- Setting up, programming, and operating CNC and manual milling machines
- Interpreting technical drawings and executing precise machining operations
- Ensuring equipment is calibrated, maintained, and running efficiently
- Conducting quality inspections using precision measuring tools
- Troubleshooting technical issues and driving machine performance improvements
- Monitoring production to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery
- Completing key documentation (work orders, inspection reports, maintenance logs)
- Collaborating with engineering and production teams to optimise processes
- Mentoring junior technicians and supporting team skill development
- Leading process improvements to boost productivity and reduce cycle times
- High-quality precision parts with minimal defects
- Efficient machine setup and repeatable processes
- Accurate inspection and quality reports
- Improved production performance and machine uptime
- Continuous improvement ideas that drive real results
Essential:
- Strong experience in a machine shop / precision engineering environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Expertise working to tight tolerances across various materials (steel, aluminium, etc.)
- Experience programming, setting, and operating CNC machines
- Qualifications in engineering (Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC) or equivalent experience
- Familiarity with controls such as Heidenhain, Mazatrol, or Ultimax
Desirable:
- CAD/CAM knowledge
- Lean manufacturing / 5S experience
- Experience producing bespoke or one-off components
- Crane lifting certification
