Join a High-Precision Engineering Team. We are looking for a Senior Manufacturing Technician (Milling) to join our growing team in Tadcaster. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled machinist who thrives on precision, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

What you'll be doing
  • Setting up, programming, and operating CNC and manual milling machines
  • Interpreting technical drawings and executing precise machining operations
  • Ensuring equipment is calibrated, maintained, and running efficiently
  • Conducting quality inspections using precision measuring tools
  • Troubleshooting technical issues and driving machine performance improvements
  • Monitoring production to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery
  • Completing key documentation (work orders, inspection reports, maintenance logs)
  • Collaborating with engineering and production teams to optimise processes
  • Mentoring junior technicians and supporting team skill development
  • Leading process improvements to boost productivity and reduce cycle times

What we're looking for

Essential:

  • Strong experience in a machine shop / precision engineering environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Expertise working to tight tolerances across various materials (steel, aluminium, etc.)
  • Experience programming, setting, and operating CNC machines
  • Qualifications in engineering (Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC) or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with controls such as Heidenhain, Mazatrol, or Ultimax

Desirable:

  • CAD/CAM knowledge
  • Lean manufacturing / 5S experience
  • Experience producing bespoke or one-off components
  • Crane lifting certification

This is more than just a machining role; you'll be a key player in shaping processes, improving performance, and developing others.
