The role will suit someone who has experience within groundworks, civil engineering or construction , and who is keen to take on greater responsibility across both site operations and commercial management.
Key Responsibilities Assist with the management and delivery of groundworks and civil engineering projects. Support site teams with planning, coordination and day-to-day project requirements. Monitor labour, plant, materials and subcontractor performance. Assist with programmes, project planning and progress reporting. Measure works completed and maintain accurate records for valuations. Prepare and review variations, applications for payment, valuations and final accounts . Assist with project cost control, forecasting and reporting.
Obtain and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations. Manage subcontractor accounts and commercial queries. Review drawings, specifications and scope of works. Identify variations, additional works and potential commercial risks. Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers. Ensure project documentation and records are maintained to a high standard. Assist with ensuring projects comply with relevant government/public-sector requirements, specifications and contractual obligations .
Support senior project and commercial managers with reporting and project reviews. Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance. About You We are looking for someone who is practical, commercially aware and keen to progress . Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience in groundworks, civil engineering or construction . Some experience in a site management, quantity surveying or commercial role. A good understanding of groundworks and construction methodologies. Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications. Good numerical and commercial awareness. Strong organisational and communication skills. Confidence dealing with subcontractors, suppliers and clients. Good IT skills A full UK driving licence.
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn. Experience working on government, local authority, infrastructure or other public-sector projects would be highly advantageous, although not essential.
