CNC Machinist
Job Description & How to Apply Below
Looking for a CNC turning role where you can work on varied, high-quality components rather than just repetitive production work?
I’m recruiting on behalf of an established precision engineering company with over 25 years of manufacturing experience, producing complex components for industries including Aerospace, Formula One, Motorsport, Medical, Pharmaceutical, Renewable Energy, Oilfield and Defence.
They are now looking to add a skilled CNC Machinist / Turner to their dayshift team.
If you’re confident setting CNC lathes, comfortable working to tight tolerances and ideally have some programming experience, this could be a very strong long-term move.
The Role
You’ll be setting and operating CNC turning centres, producing precision-engineered components from engineering drawings across a varied workload.
This is not just a button-pushing role.
You’ll be trusted to set machines properly, make adjustments, manage tooling and offsets, and take ownership of producing quality parts efficiently.
Programming experience would be highly beneficial, although strong setters who are willing and capable of developing further will also be considered.
Experience on any of the following would be beneficial
* Multi-Axis CNC Lathes
* Twin Spindle Machines
* Sub-Spindle Lathes
* Mill-Turn Centres
* Live Tooling Lathes
* Other modern CNC Turning Centres
Fanuc controls would be preferred, but this is not essential. Candidates coming from other controls will still be considered if they have strong CNC turning experience.
What they're looking for
✔ Experienced CNC Turner / Setter
✔ Confident setting machines independently
✔ Programming experience highly advantageous
✔ Fanuc experience preferred but not essential
✔ Experience with twin spindle, multi-axis, sub-spindle or live tooling machines advantageous
✔ Able to confidently read engineering drawings
✔ Comfortable working to tight tolerances
✔ Strong understanding of tooling, offsets and machining processes
✔ Previous precision engineering experience
Experience with in Aerospace, Motorsport, Defence, Medical or other high-quality engineering environments would be beneficial, although not essential.
Why people join
* Established precision engineering business
* Varied, technically interesting CNC work
* Exposure to high-value industries including Aerospace and Formula One
* Stable permanent position
* Dayshift working
* 40-hour working week
* Opportunity to develop programming capability
* Work within an experienced engineering team
* High-quality precision components rather than basic repetitive machining
* Long-term opportunity within a growing engineering company
Working Hours
Dayshift – 40 hours per week
Salary
Competitive hourly rate / salary depending on experience
Higher rates can be discussed for candidates with strong programming, multi-axis or advanced turning experience.
What makes this role different?
A lot of CNC turning roles can become repetitive very quickly.
This opportunity gives you exposure to a wider range of technically demanding precision work across industries where quality genuinely matters.
If you are already a strong CNC Turner / Setter and want a stable dayshift role where your skills are properly utilised and you have the opportunity to continue developing, this is worth exploring
