Bookkeeper/ Accounting Clerk, Financial Reporting
Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-driven Bookkeeper to join our high-performing General Practice for 2 days per week. This key role ensures accurate financial management, maintains robust financial controls and supports clear, timely reporting to the Practice Manager and GP Partners.
Responsibilities- Maintain accurate financial records using Quick Books
- Manage accounts payable and receivable
- Process invoices and payments
- Reconcile bank statements
- Prepare monthly financial reports for the Practice Manager and Partners
- Support budgeting and cashflow monitoring
- Assist with payroll administration (PAYE and pensions)
- Liaise with external accountants and support year-end accounts
- Ensure compliance with financial controls and confidentiality requirements
We are a high-performing, purpose-built General Practice serving approximately 9,800 patients. We consistently achieve strong QOF outcomes and are committed to delivering efficient, high quality patient care supported by robust governance and financial management. As an active member of Banstead PCN and Surrey Downs ICB, we work collaboratively across the local health system and manage diverse NHS income streams within a well-structured and forward-thinking practice environment.

- Recognised bookkeeping or accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, ICB or equivalent)
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Proven bookkeeping experience
- Strong working knowledge of Quick Books
- Excellent Excel skills (including use of formulas and financial reporting functions)
- Experience with bank reconciliations and financial reporting
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience in General Practice or Primary Care
- Understanding of NHS funding streams and GP practice finance
- Payroll experience
- Highly organised and self‑motivated
- Able to work independently
- Trustworthy and able to maintain strict confidentiality
- Clear and professional communication skills
Part‑time, permanent. 2 days per week. Salary depends on experience. Working location: 1 Troy Close, Tadworth, Surrey, KT20 5JE.
