Position: Counselor (EOPS/CalWORKS/NextUp)

Position Open:
Non‑Tenure Track EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs/Next Up Counselor

Pay range: $65,314.00 - $ per year (Tuesday 10‑month, 175 days per year).

Priority Final date to receive applications:
November 30, 2025. Position will remain open until filled.

Representative Duties
  • Provides counseling services to students from a wide range of cultural and socio‑economic backgrounds.
  • Assists students with course selection, degree/certification requirements, major selection, transfer requirements, and develops Student Educational Plans (SEPs); evaluates progress and refers to internal/external services as needed.
  • Outreach and liaison: visits local high schools to recruit eligible students, coordinates with other institutions, attends community events and meetings, and assists the Program Coordinator with program development.
  • Student advocacy and development: facilitates support groups and workshops, provides orientation services, and participates in student governance and committees when appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology or related field (or equivalent).
    AND
  • Completed a minimum of nine semester units in courses related to ethnic minorities or persons disadvantaged by language, social or economic factors, OR six semester units of a counseling practicum in a community‑college EOPS program or similar.
  • Two years of occupational experience working with ethnic minorities or disadvantaged populations; demonstrates sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Equity‑minded counseling theories and practices, particularly with special populations.
  • Knowledge of EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs/Next Up program guidelines and related community resources.
  • Skills to support students with disabilities, various gender identities, sexual orientations, and other underrepresented groups.

Working Conditions
  • 35 hours per week; may require evening hours.
  • Work is primarily indoors but may involve travel for assignments, workshops, or meetings.

Salary and Benefits

Initial salary range: $66,876 – $114,133 per year. Doctoral stipend: $5,040.31. Eligible for district fringe benefits (medical, dental, vision) and California retirement systems.
