Position Overview
Talladega College invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Fine Arts. The successful candidate will provide in‑person instruction via a 5/5 teaching load and support undergraduates in the Department of Fine Arts, School of Humanities and Fine Arts. This is a nine‑month position that is slated to begin during the Spring 2026 semester.

Reports To: Dean of Humanities and Fine Arts
- Teach and advise associate and undergraduate level courses in fine arts and serve on College committees.
- Terminal degree in fine arts from an accredited institution.
- A record of professional performance and/or scholarly achievement.
- At least eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in ceramics, sculpture, or traditional media 3D art.
- Master’s degree in fine arts from an accredited institution.
- Evidence of successful teaching experience at the collegiate or secondary level.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Teach fine arts and studio courses in primarily traditional and blended formats.
- Academically advise students, including transfer credits.
- Recruit and retain students.
- Recommend a schedule of classes to be offered in the department each semester.
- Administer college policies and procedures.
- Develop and assess program and student learning outcomes.
- Serve on committees.
- Review and revise department catalog information.
- Project a professional, positive, and upbeat disposition.
- Meet established deadlines.
- Utilize and remain current with the College’s and instructional technologies.
- Participate in departmental and institutional service, including curriculum development, program assessment, and faculty committees.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, creative activity, research, and/or performance that contributes to the field and enhances teaching.
- Collaborate with faculty colleagues across the School of Humanities and Fine Arts to advance interdisciplinary learning and community engagement.
- Represent Talladega College in state, regional, and national art organizations, performances, and events.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and administrators.
- A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in both art education and the broader academic community.
- A passion for mentoring and preparing future artists/educators to engage with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Rank and Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
