The position is based in AVCON's Tallahassee office and manages the full scope of work from proposal preparation through construction, overseeing all technical aspects of airport and site development projects.
Project Management- Design and manage airport and/or site development engineering projects, ensuring completeness and accuracy of design effort.
- Coordinate design elements—including plans, surveys, investigations, structures, and equipment—with team members, establishing clear objectives.
- Prepare complete project documentation, including plans, specifications, and engineer estimates, collecting, assembling, and organizing project data.
- Evaluate, select, and adapt standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to project assignments; formulate and solve problems.
- Work on multiple moderate to large projects efficiently to stay within budget and deliver on time.
- Develop proposals, including bid documents, project reports, studies, and other documentation.
- Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments/projects.
- Coordinate technical and administrative activities with other internal departments and disciplines participating in the project.
- Ensure project engineering activities comply with firm and contract requirements and support overall project schedule, scope and budget.
- Interpret contract specifications and resolve conflicts with contractor on issues such as specification interpretation, workmanship, quality of materials, and related matters.
- Maintain list of project milestones and in-progress issues.
- Prepare monthly project status reports and change orders.
- Participate in client/contractor meetings, resolving client, engineering and management project issues.
- Prepare project scopes, tasks, budgets, and schedules.
- Assist in marketing and business development pursuits.
- Attend and participate in industry forums.
- Identify potential clients.
- Interact and collaborate with clients, officials, contractors, and other project team members.
- Prepare scope and fee proposals for review.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related Engineering field.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD.
- Proficiency with Civil 3D.
- Proficiency with stormwater modeling software.
- Proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.
- Strong understanding of Federal/State funding and approval process.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and clients.
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect privileged client information and documents appropriately.
- Knowledge of correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
- Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Florida Professional Engineer licensure with ability to obtain licensure in other states, preferred.
There are supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.
EnvironmentWork usually takes place in a clean, pleasant, and comfortable office setting. Site visits may occasionally take place in an outdoor environment. Nights and weekends are generally not required but may occasionally be necessary with little or no advanced notice.
Physical RequirementsRegularly required to talk or hear. Frequently required to sit for long periods of time. Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
