Position: Government Analyst I

The Work You Will Do

This is a Government Analyst I position within the Division of Waste Management in the Petroleum Restoration Program (PRP). The selected incumbent will be responsible for providing analysis and support for the Petroleum Restoration Program (PRP). The responsibilities of this position include evaluating processes and procedures but are not limited to procuring supplies, managing the Program Administrator’s office, coordinating logistics and meetings for the program, coordinating travel, analyzing processes and guidance, and developing procedural improvements-based analysis of processes and guidance.

The position coordinates and assists in development of practices and guidance for Local Programs and Contracted entities to consistently apply Chapter 62-780, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.). The duties of the position are essential for the program and serves as the key liaison with industry to ensure proper program implementation and consistency with rules and policies.

The Government Analyst works with the Program Administrator to plan activities and projects in line with DEP’s strategic objectives and find integrated solutions on a variety of organizational challenges. Additionally, the incumbent will help protect Florida’s unique environment by directing staff across the state in implementation of petroleum cleanup activities as outlined in Chapter 62-780, F.A.C. and the Program’s guidance and contract requirements.

Annual Salary: $42,000.00 - $48,400.00 (Commensurate with experience)

Your Specific Responsibilities
  • The Petroleum Restoration Program encompasses the technical oversight, management, and administrative activities necessary to prioritize, assess, and cleanup sites contaminated by discharges of petroleum and petroleum products from stationary petroleum storage systems. These sites include those determined eligible for state funded cleanup using qualified contractors selected through competitive procurement or selected by the property owner or responsible party and state lead contractors under direct contract with the Department, as well as non-program or voluntary cleanup sites that are funded by responsible parties.

    The program budget exceeds $100 million each year.
  • Performs special assignment research, designs, and maintains Excel tracking sheets, and prepares analyses and reports to improve the workflow and efficiency of PRP.
