Position: MINT COORDINATOR
The Mothers and Infants Nurturing Together (MINT) Coordinator is responsible for the programmatic component of the facility consistent with approved policies, procedures, guidelines and programs of KCI. The MINT Coordinator will be primarily responsible for implementing and maintaining program requirements relative to the MINT program and will provide educational and liaison services to MINT program participants.

Qualifications:

The position requires the following qualifications in order to accomplish the stated job responsibilities:
  • A four-year degree in a social, human services, criminal justice or behavioral science program from an accredited college or university.
  • At a minimum, one year of experience must be working in human services, corrections, or community based services. Work experience may be substituted for academic studies exchanging one year of work experience in a related field for one year of academic education. Total work experience needed in lieu of the combination of education and work experience is five years.
Requirements
  • Serve as a liaison between the MINT program and the community.
  • Provide outreach services to MINT program participants, their families, the caretaker of the baby (if different from the resident's family), Children's Court services, the Welfare Department, foster care services, and any other social service agency involved with the program participant.
  • Identify resources to provide assistance, programs, and services to the mother and baby.
  • Provide counseling and education to the resident and the resident's family relative to childbirth and child rearing issues as specified.
  • Help the resident meet goals as developed and outlined in the program plan.
  • Review all program activities and status changes, and document same in the chronological notes of a resident's file as per policy.
  • Disseminate the proper emergency procedures to all staff and residents in the event of an emergency.
  • With Directors approval, investigate staff and resident grievances at the facility level, and make appropriate recommendations and findings to the Director.
  • Actively participate in professional and/or correctional organizations to keep informed on emerging developments to aid in the improvement of the facility.
  • Continue professional education and growth through training workshops, conferences, and other appropriate means.
  • With the Director's approval, attend community meetings and handle correspondence, phone calls and other forms of community involvement and communications.
  • Maintain an effective relationship with all staff.
  • Maintain primary responsibility for development and upkeep of resident case files.
  • Complete paperwork in a timely manner and submit to appropriate authority.
  • Properly supervise, orientate, and train volunteers and/or interns assigned to the facility, including the development of job responsibilities and work schedules.
  • Document any disciplinary action related to the resident in the Chronological Log of the resident's file. Participate in the resident disciplinary process as assigned.
  • Submit in a timely manner, all reports, time sheets, mileage sheets, vacation and sick leave requests to Director for approval.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings, resident house meetings, and any other in-house trainings.
  • Uphold all policies and procedures set forth in KCI Technical Proposal and any related contract documents.
  • Assist with other duties as deemed necessary by the Director.
  • Follow Organizational Chart for the chain of command.
Salary Description

Starting salary $33,000-$37,000
